Band$ Not Bans was originally intended to build support for comprehensive reproductive healthcare access. After the US Supreme Court severely restricted Roe v. Wade in 2022, we learned our community planned to vote, but had no faith voting would do anything. They were more interested in upending the power behind the growing body of controversial legislation across the country. To tap into that frustration, we developed a graphic novel(la) to ground the issues; explainer content about several troubling SCOTUS decisions; then, we hosted a mobile nail salon in Miami, FL, equipping our nail techs to talk about the particular bans that got under their cuticles.
